Artful Insights: Mountain Masters
$10.00
Monday, March 3, 2025, 3:00 p.m.
Both Thomas Hill (1829–1908) and William Keith (1838–1911) used their landscape paintings to support the American preservationist movement in the mid-1800s. Both artists were friends with the “Father of the National Parks,” John Muir. Muir is primarily responsible for establishing Sequoia National Park and Yosemite National Park. The paintings of the natural wonders of the Western United States, by both Hill and Keith, illustrated Muir’s preservationist efforts. The Anschutz Collection is proud to have several Keith and Hill paintings of epic landscapes. Learn about how art influenced early conservationism at this Artful Insight.
