Middle School Makers

Calling all rising 6th-9th graders: The American Museum of Western Art invites you to celebrate “FriYays!”

Come with your adults to explore a new theme each week and create an artwork to take home.

  • July 5, 3-4:30 pm – Selfies, etc. How do artists portray themselves and their friends? Make your own self-portrait.
  • July 12, 3-4:30 pm – Animal Kingdom. Animals are popular and symbolic subjects in art. Sew a felt creature.
  • July 19, 3-4:30 pm – Poetry Flex. How did painters turn words into images? You can express your vision in poetry.
  • July 26, 3-4:30 pm – Illusion. Many artists tried to fool the eye with convincing illusions. We’ll have a diorama-rama!

Admission is just $10 and includes all the supplies needed to create an artwork.
