Get Involved

Volunteer
AMWA has two volunteer roles: Front Desk and Docent. All of AMWA’s volunteers get the satisfaction of providing a valuable service to our museum visitors, but you’ll also receive free admission to select AMWA programs, continuing education opportunities, field trips to other cultural organizations, and social events with fellow volunteers.
Front Desk volunteers sit at the front desk and welcome visitors. They also sell tickets and merchandise, check coats and bags, as well as provide light technical support for audio guides. Front desk volunteers must pass a criminal background check before volunteering. Front desk volunteer applications are accepted year-round.
Docent Volunteers (aka docents) help make the art and history of the American West come to life by guiding public tours of the Museum on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Docent applications are accepted in December for the following year. The deadline to apply to the 2026 docent program has already passed. Please check back in late November 2026 for information about the 2027 docent program.

If you are interested in applying to be a front desk volunteer, please email the following information to volunteering@anschutzcollection.org. You will receive a questionnaire to fill out upon receipt.
