Artist, activist, and adventurer, Rockwell Kent traveled the world and worked many jobs to spark his imagination. In 1918-19 Kent and his son spent six months in the wilderness of Alaska, where he created beautiful paintings of their experiences. His illustrated memoir, Wilderness: A Journal of Quiet Adventure in Alaska, documents his quest for peace and creativity in nature. This Artful Insight will discuss his expeditions and why his paintings and prints are beloved and influential in American art.
