The works of the American Impressionists, like those of their European counterparts, appear to be infused with light and energy. They achieved this effect by using loose brushwork and vivid colors. While the American Impressionists painted a wide array of subject matter, they mainly focused on landscapes and the leisure activities of the middle- and upper-class. Come learn about American Impressionism and its ties to the West at this illuminating Artful Insight.
