Albert Bierstadt, namesake of one of Colorado’s 14-ers, is the subject of this Artful Insight. The Hudson River School artist traveled throughout Colorado and the West eventually becoming known for his sublime western landscapes, seven of which are on display at the museum, including one of the Museum’s newest acquisitions. Bierstadt had a deep connection to western landscape which is evident in how he refers to the West, “man is so fortunate to dwell in this American Garden of Eden.”
